Ruemz Hotel (Taylor's Lakeside University, Subang Jaya)

Taylor's Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya
When you think of where the latest hotels would be, chances would be very slim that you would think of it being within a university campus.  However, that's exactly where Ruemz Hotel is located.

Ruemz Hotel is part of Taylor's University at their Lakeside Campus in Subang Jaya.

Their website says that 'Ruemz Hotel is the first research and development hotel, located at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus Subang Jaya. The hotel would be the showcase of new product and processes that is not tested in the Malaysian market. The hotel features 84 contemporary rooms, which are tastefully designed and equipped with the latest appliances from our partners.'

The last thing I would think of would be to check into such a hotel but checked into such a hotel I did about a month ago when my company did some consulting work for the university and it was extremely convenient to be right at the centre of where the action was taking place.

Modern and comfy

The room I stayed in is the Matrix Room.  It has a queen-size bed and comes with a 42" flatscreen LCD TV, iPod docking station, tea and coffee facilities and other standard aminities.  The room is rather small but I find it quite acceptable since I only got in late at night and was out early the next morning.

Why on earth did I take this photo?

My reservation comes with breakfast and while breakfast was pretty simple, the dinning room was rather refreshingly decorated with bright and cheerful colours.  The have the usual breakfast fare but like my colleague said 'There's no egg station' :(

Courtyard Hotel (1 Borneo) Kota Kinabalu

Courtyard Hotel is one of four hotels in 1 Borneo Kota Kinabalu.  It is the last one next to Tune Hotel.  The other two are Novotel and Garden Borneo Hotel.  1 Borneo boasted one of the largest shopping mall in Kota Kinabalu but it's rather far from the city.

This is my first time staying in Courtyear Hotel and staying in this area. I choose it for the close proximity to where I would be having my meeting the following day.

I checked into Courtyard Hotel at around 10.45 pm immediately after arriving in Kota Kinabalu from Kuala Lumpur.  I checked out 14 hours later for my next destination.  The room I stayed in is the Superior Category.  It doesn't have a window as they ran out of room under this category and in order to be upgraded, I have to pay slightly more.  Since I thought I would only be in the hotel for 9 hours and I am not clastrophobic, I figure there is no reason to spend extra.

sorry, photo is rather unclear as I took it in a hurry

The room is rather small and basic but clean.  The bed is very comfortable and the hotel website boasted that the bed used is in Sydney Olympic.

The internet is free if you have the broadband cable.  If not, the hotel will lend you one. Just call the reception and they will arranged it for you.  The television is the standard 32" flat screen with local stations. Cable station include Cinemax, Astro AEC (chinese show) and sports.

The bathroom is pretty small too but again, it's clean so I'm pretty happy with it.

This was taken at 6.40 am. It gets bright early in KK

The rate that I paid for (RM114.00) comes with breakfast for 2 pax. While the breakfast is nothing to shout about, the view from the breakfast deck made up for it.

I will certainly stay here again for my future meetings.
